Another year of prestigious awards for Nana Beach Resort and its environ-mental awareness

“Blue Flag”

The “Blue Flag” Awards Ceremony for Drapanos Beach of Nana Beach Hotel took place last week. Nana Beach Hotel, aligning with and implementing all the strict criteria of participation, has been awarded with the eco-label of “Blue Flag” again and again, year after year.

The international quality “Blue Flag” award has been given to beaches and marinas that meet the strict award criteria in more than 50 countries, a continuously increasing number, putting Greece in third place worldwide. 395 Greek beaches and nine marinas won the international quality Blue Flag award this year, from which the 17 are located in the prefecture of Heraklion.

The strict criteria of the program which have to be met are divided into four categories, which include a wide range of sub-requirements and refer to the environmental education and information, to the cleanliness of water, to the environment and resource management and to the protection of the natural wealth of the beach and coastal area.

The “Blue Flag” Awards Ceremony which was held in Drapanos beach, was attended by the Mayor of Hersonissos, Ioannis Mastorakis, the Deputy Mayor responsible for Environment and Citizen Protection issues, Spiros Katsaboxakis, the Harbourmaster of Hersonissos, Vassilis Kapsis, the President of the Municipal Community of Hersonissos Harbour, Katerina Tsichli and the journalist, Press Of-fice Manager of the Municipality of Hersonissos, Sofia Tzedaki. The Ceremony was also attended by the Nana Beach Hotel’s management team, personnel and clients.

“Green Key Eco Label”

This is the 7th consecutive year that Nana Beach Hotel has been awarded with Green Key eco-label, another prestigious award that proves the environmental awareness of the people and their commitment to implement green incentives and activations further in the daily operations and management of the resort.

The Green Key program is coordinated by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (EEPF) and is based on a series of strict criteria applied by tourism enterprises that prove their commitment to the environmental protection and sustainability. Since 2009, Nana Beach Hotel has been awarded with the Green Key Eco Label for its proven commitment to the adoption of particular environmental and eco-friendly practices as well as its ecological consumption footprint.

“Clean up the Med”

During the last years and in terms of its high environmental awareness, Nana Beach Hotel actively participates in the “Clean up the Med”, one of the largest European campaigns for the safeguarding of the Mediterranean environment. At the end of May, in a day dedicated to the environmental care and protection, Nana Beach Hotel’s personnel as well as a bunch of little kids and their parents participated in a campaign which took place at the Mini Club of the hotel where they were extensively informed for a series of environmental issues, such as the trash problem’s effect and recycling. Then, getting the appropriate equipment, they participated in a wide clean-up of the beach, been agreeably motivated by the Animation Team of the Hotel.

In all the years of its operations, Nana Beach Hotel not only offers upscale hospitality services to its guests, but is also committed to the implementation of well-focused policies aiming at the training of its employees on environmental awareness while encouraging them to work in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. Especially in regards to its environmental performance to energy use and efficiency, Nana Beach Hotel implements a wide range of energy saving practices while participates in several efforts and activities, such as those of the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (EEPF).
